Our Weekly Vigil Invites Your Participation
We meet on Fridays from 5 - 5:30 at the edge of the Brunswick Town Mall opposite Walgreens.
We stand to bear witness for deeply held beliefs in justice of all kinds
and also to offer a source of public education that’s rare in mainstream media.
Peace and Justice are interdependent. We won’t have one without the other.
Please bring a sign to hold that speaks your concerns, hold one of ours, or simply stand in solidarity with us.
Background to the Vigil
The Vigil began just after 9/11/01 as a community statement against retaliation and has continued weekly since, with a little time out for Covid. Young people who joined us recently hadn’t yet been born in 2001.
The wars that have continued in these 19 years have robbed our Federal budget of the Social Safety Net so vital to the people of this country. 53 cents of every tax dollar go to the Pentagon leaving tragically little for education, health, environment and all the elements of Real Security.
Join us to add your voice to re-thinking the way our tax dollars are spent.
Bring our War Dollars Home so that we can find our way beyond racism etc.etc.
We can find our way beyond racism, beyond homelessness, beyond health care for profit, beyond prisons for profit, beyond income disparities that are unacceptable, beyond climate devastation.
Change requires that more and more of us stand up to insist, each in our own way, week after week after week.
Peace Seekers are also Truth Seekers
